This means blocking your fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy. It usually involves a general anaesthetic and is not offered at our clinics. We will be happy to discuss sterilisation and can send you on to a hospital specialist if you decide you want the procedure. Most specialists are unhappy to sterilise women younger than 25, especially if they have no children.
This is male sterilisation. It means blocking or cutting the tubes so that sperm cannot get out. It is a small operation which can be done at our clinics. You just need a local anaesthetic injection to make it painless. If you are interested in vasectomy you can ask your GP to refer you to one of our clinics or you can contact us yourself to arrange this. We need to talk to you first, to make sure you know all about vasectomy. We can then make a date for you to come back for the operation.
